Parkview Elementary, Cameron R-I
Parkview Elementary is a Preschool-2nd grade building located in Cameron, Missouri in the Northwest region of the state. Our mission is “Growing and Learning Today for a Better Tomorrow”. We are data-driven and focused on each student achieving success and meeting their learning goals. Students set goals and then monitor their progress using their data notebook which is sent home every two weeks to share with parents. Parents are very much a part of the team and opportunities for parent involvement are scheduled throughout the year.
All parents are invited to visit and be a guest reader in their child’s classroom. Community Hero Day & Grandparent’s Day were both well attended and an excellent avenue to share our mission and vision with the community. The end of the year is celebrated with a data fair where parents are invited to view school data and their child’s accomplishments. At the fair, students are recognized for their individual and class achievements.
Learning targets are posted in kid-friendly terms for all subjects and the schedule is designed with sixty minutes of RTI time, better known as Dragon Time. All Parkview students are able to receive 60 minutes of intervention or enrichment. We are also able to offer an additional 30 minutes of TIER 3 instruction each day at every grade level. Every week our Title team has two fifteen-minute individual bean bag reading sessions with our at-risk students.
The schedule is designed where all teachers have sixty minutes of common plan time daily. Collaboration time is scheduled once a week.Teachers also meet with the Title team before school to discuss RTI time instruction and meeting individual needs of our at risk students. Teachers share student data, complete lesson plans and create common assessments. We have also created opportunities for teachers to observe peers and learn from each other resulting in a very positive team environment. We participate in the Bucket Filler Program where all Lil’ Dragons and the Parkview Team strive to fill each other’s bucket each and everyday!
Leadership Team: Jennifer Todd-Kindergarten, Stacy Proctor-First Grade, Aimee Leitterman-Second Grade, Angie Ormsby-Instructional Coach, Whitney Howk-Co-teacher-Special Education, Cayla Riley-Librarian
